Dr. Amin Elshorbagy, Ph.D., P.Eng., Saskatoon, SK – Vice-President

 

Amin Elshorbagy is a professor of civil engineering at the university of Saskatchewan, he is specialized in water resources engineering, hydroinformatics, and decision analysis. Elshorbagy has published many journal articles and book chapters in his field. He also serves as a referee and editorial board members in international engineering and science journals, and as a member of the international steering committees of international conferences.

Elshorbagy has been involved with and volunteering for the Muslim community in Canada since 1997 at various capacities, including President of the Muslim Students’ Association at the university of Manitoba, president of Saskatoon Muslim Foundation, vice president of the Islamic Association of Saskatchewan, and also served on the board of Saskatoon Misbah School. Elshorbagy, through continuing education, studied several courses in Fiqeh (Islamic jurisprudence), osoul-el-fiqeh, tafseer, hadeeth, Islamic history, and biography of the prophet. He has been frequently delivering Friday khutbah (sermon), and various Islamic lectures and talks, and also served as the editor of Saskmuslim newsletter. Elshorbagy’s focus and emphasis have been always on mobilizing Canadian Muslims to adopt and promote the Wassateyyah (moderation) of Islam on the basis of inseparable text and context.
